Palomar Lightsheer Diode Laser

Laser stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation

The laser emits a beam of light that passes through the skin, to the hair follicale. The light energy is then absorbed by the pigment in the hair and it is transformed into heat energy, the intensity of heat destroys the follicle, matrix and the papilla which are the surrounding nourishing structures which help the hair grow, and assist in the growth of germinative hair cells that lie dormant wihtin the follicular wall until stimulated by blood and hormones.

The Lightsheer Diode Laser is widely considered as the standard of care for laser hair reduction. Treatments usually require 4-8 sessions but in some instances can require more. Dark hair gets the best response. Patients can expect 85-90% reduction in growth and any remaining growth will not be dark and coarse but fine and light. Touch up treatments months or years later may be necessary.

Laser and electrolysis are both excellent methods of hair removal. Laser and electrolysis are FDA approved for permanent hair removal or reduction. Laser and electrolysis are both offered at the Reynolds Plastic Surgery Center on site by licensed and certified professionals under Dr. Reynolds direct supervision.

Jayne Doyle is our certified laser technician and electrolysis expert. She obtained her BA in Psychology at the University of Connecticut. She obtained her Connecticut state license for Electrolysis at the Electrolysis Institute of New England (#00430). She obtained her certification as a Laser Technician at the Laser and Electrolysis Center in Naples. She is certified in the state of Texas (>48 hours training course) but most importantly has 17 years of experience in electrolysis and hair removal.
